The hammer crushers break rock by impacting the rock with hammers that fixed upon the outer edge of a spinning rotor. The practical use of hammer crushers is limited to soft materials and non abrasive materials, such as limestone, phosphate, gypsum, weathered shales.
Hammer crusher:primary or secondary rock crushers .It is used for crushing raw materials that have compressive strength less than 150MPa such as limestone, marl, sandstone, gypsum, coal, etc. The single stage hammer crusher can crush the ore block at the stope into the granularity required at a time. It can replace the traditional two-stage crusher and help simplify process flow, save infrastructure investment and production costs.
The main working part of hammer crusher is rotors with hammer. The rotors consist of main shaft, disk, pin shaft and hammers. The motor drives the rotors to rotate quickly in the crushing cavity. Raw materials enter the crusher through the feed opening and are stricken, impacted, cut and grinded by the high-speed hammer to small size.
There is a screening plate under the rotor, so that materials with smaller size than the screen mesh will be screened out and others are left to be further hammered and grinded until reach the standard size. The size of the final product can be adjusted by changing the screening plate. The gap between the rotors and the screening plate can also be adjusted.

Hammer mill mainly crushes the materials by relying on the impact force. The crushing process mainly goes like this: the materials go into the crusher and are crushed by the impact of the hammers rotating with high speed. The crushed materials will get kinetic energy from the hammers and rush to the baffle inside the crushing chamber with high speed and at the same time, the materials will impact with each other. After many times of crushing, the materials smaller than the gap of the grating bar will be discharged from the gap, and some big materials will stay on the grating bar to be impacted, ground, squeezed and crushed by the hammers and finally be discharged from the gap, thus getting the products with the desired granularity. Hammer crusher can be divided into reversible type and irreversible type; the former has reversible rotors and is generally used for fine crushing and the latter has irreversible rotors and is generally used for medium crushing.
